Never got hotter than around 300 no matter the setting. Element tested weak once we ran it under load. Replaced, holds an accurate temperature now.
Beauregard A.
A preheat that drags, food browning unevenly, or a screen gone dark, generally traces back to one component rather than the appliance failing outright.

Falls Short Of The Dial
Set it to 375, and whatever's baking says otherwise. On electric models, look first at the bake element weakening with age. On gas, an igniter losing strength causes the same result. Measuring output under real load beats guessing from how it looks.
Takes Far Too Long
Ten minutes used to be the norm. Now it edges toward twenty. Rarely a sudden failure, this is usually a slow fade, whether igniter or element. Watching the entire preheat stretch catches what a single check would miss.
Darker On One Side
Center the tray, rotate it even, and one side still comes out darker. When the convection fan stops spinning, hot air pools in place rather than moving around the cavity. A weak patch along the heating element can look nearly identical.
Warmth Leaks Out
Hold a hand near the closed door mid-bake and feel heat escaping anyway. Usually the gasket's lost shape, or the hinges have loosened just enough. Both tend to wear together, so checking only one leaves half the job undone.
Screen Stays Black
Buttons do nothing. The display shows nothing. A dead board is rarely the actual cause, more commonly a slim connector cable tucked behind the panel has simply worked itself free. Reseating it is quick once confirmed.
Stalls Or Locks Up
The cycle either stalls partway or throws a code, sometimes with the door locked and no obvious release. A lock switch firing out of sequence often triggers this, read by the board as unsafe. Testing that sequence beats a reset that might not stick.
Types We Service
No two brands display these quite the same way, so treat the list below as a general pointer rather than your unit's actual manual.
If the same code returns after a power cycle, it's worth having someone look at it properly rather than resetting it again. Book a visit and we'll read it correctly.
What customers said once their oven was sorted.
Plenty of what we get called out for turns out to be minor enough to check on your own first.
Use an oven thermometer
A basic oven thermometer confirms whether the true interior temperature matches the setting you chose. Off by more than 25 degrees is worth flagging.
Feel along the door gasket
Run a finger along it while heating to feel for warmth leaking out anywhere.
Confirm gas or power is on
Electric needs the breaker flipped. Gas needs the valve open.
Rule out a stuck self-clean
If the door is stuck, first rule out whether self-clean is still mid-cycle or simply hasn't unlocked.
Wipe down the interior racks
Grime buildup can stop smooth sliding, sometimes mistaken for a hinge problem.
Reset breakers after storms
A brief power dip can confuse the board without a full outage.
There's probably something more involved happening if none of that helped. Book a technician and we'll take a proper look.
